First Project to Cover: Heat Storage.

So I do have a range of saturation I can play with at 9 pounds of CaCl. 9 Pounds in this situation yields a solution of .26.5 percent and 10 pounds yields 28 percent solution, and though the graph mentioned in the first post is almost linear in that portion of the graph, my heat storage jugs are therefore safe down to -26.5F and minus 28F before they begin to freeze. Passive Solar Projects, another WordPress venture.

While I do have a fair amount of Sodium Chloride, I decided to go with Calcium Chloride because of it’s use for extra weight in tires of various agricultural equipment. Sodium Chloride in a saturated solution does not achieve the desired freezing point depression I wanted. I aimed for something at about minus 30 to minus 35 Farenheight. Continue reading
